MINIMAL ASSET PROCESS (MAP)

How much does MAP cost?

The application fee is £50 as of 2026. This is paid to the Accountant in Bankruptcy when you apply. It is significantly cheaper than Full Administration sequestration, which is £150.

The £50 fee

The MAP fee is fixed at £50, paid to AiB when you apply. This is one-third of the Full Administration fee.

The fee is non-refundable.

Some charities help with the £50 for applicants who cannot afford it — Christians Against Poverty, StepChange, and some local hardship funds.

Why MAP is so cheap

MAP was designed to be accessible for people with genuinely no resources. A higher fee would defeat the purpose — the scheme targets people who cannot afford bankruptcy fees anywhere else in the UK.

AiB's administrative costs on MAP cases are much lower than Full Administration because there is less asset dealing, less oversight, and a shorter duration.
