MINIMAL ASSET PROCESS (MAP)

How long does MAP last?

The MAP period runs for six months. At the end, provided you have met the conditions, most of the debts included in the MAP are written off.

The 6-month duration

MAP has a 6-month standard duration — half the length of Full Administration and much shorter than Trust Deeds or IVAs.

Discharge is automatic at 6 months unless there is evidence of misconduct or non-compliance.

On discharge, debts included are written off. You are free to move on.

Credit file impact runs longer

Despite the short 6-month duration, the credit file entry stays for six years from the date of the award. Because MAP is so short, the entry persists for about five-and-a-half years after discharge.

This is the same six-year rule as other insolvency routes — the short procedural duration does not mean a shorter credit file impact.
