MINIMAL ASSET PROCESS (MAP)

Does MAP affect my credit rating?

Yes. MAP is recorded on the Register of Insolvencies while active and remains on your credit file for six years from the date it starts.

The six-year credit file entry

MAP appears on your credit file for six years from the date of the award, the same rule as Full Administration sequestration.

Because MAP runs only 6 months, the credit file entry persists for about five-and-a-half years after discharge.

The Register of Insolvencies

You appear on the public register while active. Removed shortly after discharge.

Existing credit

Existing credit accounts closed. Basic bank accounts remain available.

Rebuilding

Standard rebuild pattern: credit-builder cards, controlled use, letting time pass. By year 6 (when the record drops off), rebuild is usually complete.
